Imri Nasution

As the Managing Director and co-founder of Kino-i, Imri Nasution is mainly responsible in shaping the company into a creative corporate entity. By working with a young pool of filmmakers, he plans of bringing new movements into the entertainment industry.

Imri started his career in theatre, and when still in secondary school, attended Five Arts Center’s “Teater Muda” (Youth Theatre) workshop in 1994. He later pursued filmmaking studies at Akedemi Filem Malaysia (AFM). During his course of study, he was involved in numerous short film works. His short films include the award-winning “Skin Deep Beauty”, which has won 4 major awards at the 5th AFM’s Film Festival. The awards were for ‘Best Director’, ‘Best Sound’, ‘Best Camera’ and ‘Best Video’. His other work was “Pistol-Pistolan”, which was shot on 16mm.

From there, Imri went on to work for the ‘National Geographic’ team from Australia and was designated Assistant Cameraman for a series entitled “Littlest Rhino”, which was partly shot in Peninsula Malaysia. He later directed a series of documentaries “Ilham” featuring the works of prominent architects, painters, poets and dancers for Malaysia’s national television station, TV1.
